Foreigners being charged $60,000 for scam marriages to U.S. citizens who were mainly drunks or homeless

A scam marriage ring uncovered by investigators found that foreigners were being charged up to $60,000 so they could marry U.S. citizens who were either homeless or drunks just so they could remain in the country.

A couple and their daughter have been arrested for arranging the fake marriages for more than 20 foreigners, most of whom were Indian.

Ajit Bhargava , his wife Nisha Bhargava, 56, and their daughter Runjhun Bhargava, 30, from Orange County, were arrested early in the morning at their home and are charged with conspiracy to commit visa fraud.

Authorities said the family ran the immigration company MPEagle Consultants in Cerritos California, where they arranged scam marriages for foreigners who wanted to stay in the country.
